Player of the Week
Teamkong

The sun came up on Sunday! Yes, even after Pittsburg State University’s upsetting loss to Emporia, the world goes on.  The season goes on.

Remember back in 1991?  Pitt State lost to East Texas State, tied Rolla, and struggled with Southwest Baptist.  But the senior leaders stepped up, the team came together, and the rest is . . . history.

There are good things that come from a loss.  The lessons learned can be invaluable.  The coaches and players will be stronger and better because of it.

As bad as some think the team played on Saturday, there were very good individual performances.  The most outstanding is this weeks Teamkong Player of the Week, Germaine Race.

The freshman from Warrensburg continues to look much more mature than an eighteen year old rookie.  His performance on Saturday was excellent.  He carried the ball 16 times for 102 yards, and two touchdown runs.

His first touchdown run, of twenty-seven yards might be his most exciting run as a Gorilla.  He broke tackles, showed his excellent speed, and deceptive power in a leaping, diving, pylon breaking touchdown run.

He gets better and better each week.  Let’s hope he averages 25 carries a game for the rest of the season. Germaine Race is a special talent.  Congrats to Germaine for winning this award for the second time this season.
